Help! Police certificate from USA takes 15 weeks...

For all discussion about the IEC application process

Hey all,

I have travelled quite extensively and have lived in Aus, NZ the US and here at home in the UK. Getting the police certificates for Aus, NZ and UK seem relatively straightforward but the US FBI check says the processing time is 14-16 weeks!! Does anyone know how strict they are with checking these? I'd ideally not like to wait 3-4 months to have to get cleared before going to Canada (assuming the rest of my application is accepted).

Can anyone give any advice or guidance?

Thanks,

James

CIC are well aware how long FBI checks take - if you've uploaded some proof of application, they will give you an extension. If you need another extension, you can do this again. I have heard of people being approved after applying for the extension but before receiving the actual police certificate.

Having said all this, there is a brand new FBI application system which is a LOT quicker!
